Kids in Christ Growing in Faith SS

" THE PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH IS TO LOVE AS WE HAVE BEEN LOVED, TO FEED AS WE HAVE BEEN FED, TO CARE AS WE HAVE BEEN CARED FOR, LIVING AS THE BODY OF CHRIST IN THE WORLD"

Kids in Christ—Growing in Faith is a weekly program dedicated to growing your child's faith and knowledge of the Lutheran faith while having fun. Each Sunday after the 10:30 Children’s Message, teachers will take kids of all ages downstairs for a time of Bible stories, crafts, singing songs and fun, returning to church during the giving of peace.  The Christian Ed team has planned lessons through the school year to help grow your children’s spiritual faith. The team looks forward to a wonderful and adventurous year for our children as they Grow in their Faith.

Pastor Alison Leitzel recently retired

Pastor Allie joyfully lives in Millcreek with husband of 9 years, Barry Davis. Between the two of them, they have five adult children. They continue to care for another one at home, faithful companion, 10 year old cairn terrier, Izza Dor-able.

Prior to moving to Erie in May 2016, Pastor Allie pastored congregations in Albany, NY, Jamestown, NY, Sidney, NY and Nova Scotia Canada. Sharing the Joy and Love of God is her passion.

Her husband Barry is also her passion. In June 2014, Barry retired from 20 some years of teaching history at MIHS. Barry is a retired ordained Methodist Pastor (elder) and an Army Chaplain.

Sheryl Williams is indeed a gifted organist and pianist. She comes to us with a lifetime of experience and training in piano, organ, choral education and hand bell ringing. Her degree in music education includes graduate studies and extensive experience in sacred music, performance, teaching, worship planning, directing adult and children’s choral ensembles and hand bell ringing. She is no stranger to accompanying both traditional Lutheran and contemporary worship.  As a former music teacher, she has taught children in grades K - 12 vocal and instrumental music.  She has been a Lutheran church organist, pianist and choir director for all ages as well as a private music instructor.  Sheryl has also worked full time for the Erie County Office of Children and Youth and is the Township Secretary for the Millcreek Township Board of Supervisors.

Her family is no stranger to ministry. Her daughter, Stephanie, served as an apprentice at Abiding Hope under Pastor John Coleman, and she, her husband and their 3 daughters are active missionaries stationed in Germany.  Sheryl has teamed up with her other daughter, Christina, her husband and their 6 children to help coordinate Christmas musical performances with Our Lady of Peace and Messiah Lutheran Church.

God has blessed Abiding Hope once again and sent us this energetic and talented musician to enhance our worship experience and inspire joy and fellowship through her musical gifts.   May God continue to bless Sheryl and members of Abiding Hope in our ministry together.
